| Figure 2. (BELOW). Detail view of TOP RECUT LINE. The recut line does not follow the original design. The right end drops below the original line as noted in Neinken. The left end of the recut appears to be split and above original line, ending between the S of US and P of POSTAGE. This position is not classified by Neinken or Ashbrook as a SPLIT TOP LINE variety.

| Figure 3. (Below) Detail view of bottom curved line on 2 impressions. The bottom line was NOT recut. The weak bottom line appears to have either broken or wore away in the lower image. This characteristic is similar to the famous 89R1L but is not discussed in much detail. Earl B. Oakley illustrates in The Chronicle of the US Classic Issues, Issue 58, May 1968 that the bottom lines of Positions 30L, 50L, 67R and 90R and 99R1L also wear away on late impressions.
