1¢ Franklin Issue of 1851-1857, PLATE 3
Position 24L3
Scott #7 Blue,
Type II, Relief B
Issued only imperforate.

Part of a horizontal strip of 3 consisting of 24L3, 25L3 and 26L3.

PLATING NOTES:
The most pronounced crack on Plate 3 extends through parts of three positions in the left pane. Platers call this the "forked lightning crack" which can be seen in the lower left corner between the left plume and left ball. This strip is significant because the other two positions show 25L3, which the Neinken indicates as having no plating marks, and 26L3 of which the plating diagram illustrated is incorrect.
