1¢ Franklin Issue of 1851-1857, PLATE 3
Position 10L3
Blue,
Type II, Relief T
Issued only imperforate.

It should be noted that the plating drawings for 1L3 to 16L3 in the 1972 Neinken book are incorrect. The diagrams where later corrected in 1981. The corrections were published in the USPCS Chronicle Whole Number 110, May 1981.

PLATING NOTES:

The lower right corner of this patient shows part of position 20L3. There is a strong dot (red arrow below) to the left of Ornament Z. This dot also can be seen on an archive pair 19L3 and 20L3. This proves that Neinkens mat for 19L3 and 20L3 are incorrect.

Figure 1. (Below) There are some faint plate scratches in the right margin. These may not be consistant. They are not illustrated in Neinken.

Figure 2. (Below) Top row GUIDE DOTS at the upper left corner, technically belong to 9L3, as 10L3 does not have a guide dot at the upper right corner as do 1L3 thru 9L3.

Figure 2. (Below) Red arrow point to various plating marks as illustrated in Neinken. They are very faint and appear to not always be visible, depending on the quality of impression.

Figure 3. (Below) A deep dot of color below the E of ONE as illustrated in Neinken. This plating mark would be the definative plating mark if the patient being examined has narrow margins.
