Figure 1. (Below) A faint diagonal blurry line of color above the U of US. It is postulated that this mark is the faint remains of a CURL not illustrated in the plating diagrams.

Figure 2. (Below) Blurry spots of color scattered in TAG of POSTAGE. Many positions of plate 2 show similar features, most notably 55L2 and 56L2. Curiously these spots are also similar to the "TAG" varieties of the 10¢ Issues of 1861.
