1¢ Franklin Issue of 1851-1857, PLATE 2
Position 15L2
Type II, Relief A
Issued both imperforate (Scott 7) and perforated (Scott 20).

PLATING NOTES:

The Neinken plating mat indicates that Ornament B is very weak, with an ornament remnant at the far right. Though not unique, this feature could prove useful in eliminating other positions. The upper label background is slightly double transfered or shifted, turning the background solid blue..

Figure 1. (Below) Detail view of the plating mark illustrated in the Neinken mat. It is technically part of the short transfered Ornament B remains of position 14L2.

Figure 2. (Below) Detail view of the vertical plate crack (?) or line of color plating mark above and to the left of Ornament Y as illustrated in the Neinken mat. It is weak and if the impression is soft, can be difficult to make out. Note that Ornament L is very weak, similiar to position 14L2, but the dot is shaped different than 14L2.
