1¢ Franklin Issue of 1851-1857, PLATE 2 Position 14L2 |
Type II, Relief A Issued both imperforate (Scott 7) and perforated (Scott 20). PLATING NOTES: The Neinken plating mat indicates that Ornament B is very weak, with an ornament remnant at the far right. Though not unique, this feature, could prove useful in eliminating other positions. The medallion background border line below STA of POSTAGE is broken/missing. The plating marks in the G and E of POSTAGE appear to be consistant. The archive does not have later impressions of this position so it is unclear if these marks survive the life of the plate.
