| 1¢ Franklin Issue of 1851-1857, PLATE 1 LATE.
Pos 91R1L, (Scott #9) |
| Scott #9 Blue, Type IV, Relief B Issued both imperforate and perforated. Perforated copys are more scarce. SINGLE RECUT TOP ONLY Ashbrook and Neinken both do not classify this position as a DOUBLE TRANSFER or show in the plating diagrams that it is shifted. The doubling of lines can be found all long the the left Ornaments particularly on earlier impressions. The plating diagrams only show the top recut line which makes plating singles a bit more difficult. Please see Figure 4 to examine a new plating mark, east of Ornament F/G. The Archivist would like to hear from other students of this issue confirming this mark. |
