| Scott #9 Blue, Type IV, Relief A Issued both imperforate and perforated. Perforated copies are more scarce. SINGLE RECUT TOP Note that Ornament "S" is weakly impressed. This is not indicated on the Ashbrook plating diagrams. The blur indicated by the Ashbrook/Neinken plating diagram can partially be seen below the "S" of POSTAGE but is mostly obscured by cancellation ink. |

Other students of this issue have noted that the row of dashes (which fill the center of the white oval surrounding the portrait) have been obliterated under the S and T of POSTAGE by the blur.
