RUSTY PLATE POSITION.

83L, 84L, 85L, 93L, 94L 96L and 99L are outstanding examples of what is sometimes called the rusty plate variety. These marks show themselves as small patches of needle point dots. This variety was, according to Ashbrook, no doubt caused by small patches of dampness left on the plate, which corroded the polished steel surface.
